Smoking a pipe is a centuries-old way of relaxing, whether at the end of the day, or throughout the day. Taking a moment to light a pipe and get lost in the fragrance and taste of the blend often recalls happy memories to the forefront of my mind of being with my grandfather as a young boy. Listening to his stories and heeding the morals and humor that inevitably were wound within those stories while his pipe smoke filled the air formed such a significant part of me, and reminds me of my roots as I smoke my pipe as he once did.

From this love of smoking came a curiosity about the design and craft of pipemaking. We began playing with different types of woods and shapes, using various tools, evaluating how it felt during the process of carving it, how it looked, and how it felt in the hand while the smoke moved through the stem. Through trial and error over the years, we developed our signature pipe, which is a full-fisted flat-bottom (a kind of sitter), resting on its own without the need of a pipe-holder.

Each tobacco pipe is hand-crafted, individually designed, and artisan-made in our pipe-making workshop. Some of our favorite materials for pipemaking are corncob, cherry, maple, apple, pear, oak, various burls, and, our favorite, Italian briarwood. We like to craft full-fisted pipes with finger wells and thumb wells so that you get a full grip on the pipe while enjoying your favorite blend of tobacco.

While we carve our tobacco pipes in accordance with your particular taste, we tend to stick with the classic tobacco stems – straight, half-bent, and bent – and classic bowl designs. Small apple bowls, estates bowl, billiard bowls, freehand bowls, scoop bowls, church warden, all the way to our signature full-fisted flat-bottom sitter bowls, are among our specialties.
