Welcome to Huckleberry Homestead! As a mini-farm, we have a lot of homestead projects happening on a small scale. Visit the various pages on our website for more details!

We raise chickens for eggs and turkeys and Cornish Cross chickens for meat. We love to share our brown and speckled eggs with our community! These feathery fowl are protected by our Australian Shepherds, who do a bang-up job making sure the local predators don’t get their paws and beaks on our flock. Our apiary is nestled in its own secluded area for our Italian honey bees to have protection and privacy to do their work!

In our raised garden beds, we plant certain staples that we always need in our kitchen, and rotate through other vegetables as we need to replenish our coffers. We typically have three plantings: late winter/early spring, late spring, and early fall. Some of our favorites are several varieties of tomatoes, cucumbers for pickling and for eating straight out of the garden, French breakfast radishes, peas, and cooking greens like kale, spinach, collards, and chard.
In our open fields, we plant row crops that also rotate by season as needed. Our favorites are proteins like pinto beans, kidney beans, and edamame (soy beans) – and, of course, sweet corn!
We also grow cooking herbs like parsley, basil, thyme, and cilantro. Our catmint announces the end of cold weather each year, along with our chocolate mint plants. Our rose bushes offer rose hips that are wonderful for making tea and jelly.

Our small orchard yields many pears and a growing number of apples. We cultivate both wild and thornless blackberries, blueberries, and thornless raspberries in our fenced-in berry patch. Our fig grove is in its early stages but promises to be a beautiful and delicious part of our homestead!

With these abundant crops, we spend a lot of time canning tomatoes, pickling vegetables, dehydrating fruit, making jams and preserves, freezing kale and other cooking greens, and processing chicken and turkey meat. See our blog posts for helpful hints and recipes!

Our artisan workshops include a forge, a wood workshop, and a candle lab. The forge is the birthplace of the many hand-crafted and custom-made kitchen and “every day carry” knives made from repurposed and upcycled materials, along with metallurgic creations that are both surprising and functional. Our tobacco pipes hand-crafted for the pipe smoking connoisseur are designed for comfort, style, and pleasure, and may also be custom-made upon request. Check our candle offerings for our seasonal fragrances and colors!
